Kasteel van Gaasbeek

Storybook castle in Lennik, Belgium. The castle has been modified through the centuries to what is now, a 19th century romantic-style château dating back to medieval times. It has 800 years of stories to tell. Inside there is an impressive art collection, marvelous paintings, beautiful story-telling tapestries, antique furniture, coin collections and more. Surrounded by a beautiful forest park with extensive walking trails. Saint Gertrude’s Chapel is tucked in this forest across the lake from the castle.

Open late on the first Friday of each month, when you’ll get to experience the gorgeous sunsets on the lake!

On weekends, your museum admission ticket allows you entry into the castle’s raised garden. Mostly full of edible plants, herbs and flowers.

🍽️For a snack stop by the castle’s Caffè Carletto which serves drinks and pastries.
You can also pack a pic-nic and eat on the lawn by the lake with the castle towering over you on the hill.
