Kasteel Van Beersel

Castles in Belgium

Kasteel van BeerselsKasteel Van Beersels

Considered one of Belgium’s best-preserved castles.
Kasteel van Beersel (Dutch) or Château de Beersel (French) is a medieval castle-fort in Beersel, Flemish Brabant, Belgium. The castle retains its original design which dates to 1357. It has survived several sieges and has gone through a few restorations. The present castle is a product of significant renovations that took place from 1928–39. Its major feature is its three large towers and brick facade, as are most castles in the Flemish regions of Belgium.  The castle is open to the public. You can tour it at your leisure as it is an empty shell that is ready for you to explore. The towers are accessible by stairs and in the highest and most narrow parts, by ladder. A trail around the moat is great for a stroll and the best views of the castle. You might even spot a few locals fishing in the lake.

🍽️Brasserie Kasteel Beersels is great for lunch, snack or refreshments. Shares the parking lot with the castle.

⏱️Allow yourself 1.5 – 2 hours to tour the castle. Add an an hour if having lunch at the brasserie.
